Our divisions
One organisation, two operating divisions, a third in development
SHINE is the parent. Sintieh Research Academy (research training, mentorship and consulting) and MedAccess (a healthcare access platform with more than 1,000 facilities) are its divisions; SHINE HUB is planned for 2026.
Why one organisation
Research without a delivery channel stays on the shelf; digital tools without evidence do not improve care. Keeping the academy, the platform and the field programmes under one governance structure means that a study designed by SRA can be run through MedAccess facilities, and that what the platform learns about access to care becomes a research question for the academy. Partners deal with one organisation, one contract and one reporting line.
How the SHINE divisions fit together
The SHINE divisions share one board, one finance function and one research governance framework. Therefore a partner working with any of them deals with a single organisation. Sintieh Research Academy carries the research and training work. MedAccess carries the digital platform and its network of more than 1,000 facilities. SHINE HUB, in development, will join the two in one system.
Why the SHINE divisions work as one
A study designed by the academy can recruit through MedAccess facilities. In turn, what the platform learns about access to care returns to the academy as a research question. As a result, evidence and services improve each other. For details see Sintieh Research Academy, MedAccess and SHINE HUB, or visit sra.shineltd.org.

A note on our standards
First, every study has a written protocol and ethical approval before data collection. Second, we report results to the partner as well as to a journal. Third, testimonials appear only with the person’s consent. As a result, partners can rely on what SHINE publishes, and readers can check every claim against its source.
Describe the problem and we will route it: research, training, digital access or a field programme.
