Partner with SHINE
Research, training and digital health delivered in Africa, with published results
For funders, ministries of health, universities, hospitals and companies. Reply within two working days, a discovery call of 15 to 30 minutes, and a scoped proposal within five days.
What SHINE offers partners
Four kinds of work, delivered by the divisions of SHINE and reported against agreed milestones. Each engagement has a named lead, a delivery plan and published outputs where research is involved.
Research and evaluation
Baseline studies, programme evaluations, clinical audits, operational research and systematic reviews, from protocol and ethics approval to peer-reviewed publication.
Training and capacity building
Research methods, grant writing, data analysis and implementation science courses for hospital teams, university departments and ministry staff, on site or online.
Digital health
Facility data, booking, referral and mobile-money payment through MedAccess, and integration with partner systems and health programmes.
Field programmes
Community screening, outreach and follow-up campaigns such as NCD Cameroon, designed as studies so results are published and can inform policy.
Who we work with
SHINE works with organisations that need research, training or digital tools delivered in sub-Saharan Africa, with results they can publish and audit. Current and past partners include the Ministry of Public Health, the University of Washington, the Welisane Foundation and SGCON.
Research partnerships in four forms
Research partnerships with SHINE take one of four forms. They can be a commissioned study, a training programme, an integration with MedAccess, or joint delivery of a field programme. In every case the partner receives a written protocol, ethical approval before data collection and audited financial reporting. Moreover, the partner receives outputs it can publish and cite.

Related pages
For example, the publications library lists peer-reviewed work by year and topic. Similarly, the programmes page describes current field programmes and courses. Finally, news and insight carries announcements and programme notes from SHINE and its divisions.
A note on our standards
First, every study has a written protocol and ethical approval before data collection. Second, we report results to the partner as well as to a journal. Third, testimonials appear only with the person’s consent. As a result, partners can rely on what SHINE publishes, and readers can check every claim against its source.
Funders and foundations
Programme design, implementation and evaluation with audited reporting and peer-reviewed outputs.
Ministries and health systems
Screening programmes, clinical audits, facility data and research that feeds district and national strategies.
Universities and hospitals
Joint studies, co-authorship, research methods training and analysis support, including the twelve-week course with the University of Washington.
Companies and technology partners
Integration with MedAccess, corporate sponsorship of programmes and data partnerships. SGCON is SHINE's technology partner.

Questions from partners
Short answers to the questions we are asked most. For anything else, contact us and we reply within two working days.
What size of project does SHINE take on?
From a single clinical audit or a two-day workshop to multi-year, multi-site programmes. Every request receives a scoped proposal with a budget.
Can SHINE receive and manage grant funding?
Yes. SHINE is a registered private limited enterprise under OHADA law and reports to funder requirements. Contact partner@shineltd.org for registration documents.
Do you work outside Cameroon?
Yes. SRA trainees come from five African countries and courses are delivered online; field work outside Cameroon is arranged with local partners.
Who owns the data and the publications?
Agreed in the proposal. SHINE's default is joint ownership of data under a data-sharing agreement, and authorship by ICMJE criteria.
How quickly can a project start?
A discovery call is held within days of your enquiry and a proposal follows within five. Start dates depend on ethics approval where required.
