About the research methodology course
The research methodology course is an eight-week online programme from Sintieh Research Academy. It is for clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and public health graduates who want to run their own studies. Each week combines a recorded lecture, a live session and a practical assignment on your own research question.
What the research methodology course covers
Weeks one and two cover the research question and study design. Weeks three and four cover ethics and the protocol. Next, weeks five and six cover data collection with REDCap, ODK and KoboToolbox, and analysis in STATA, R or SPSS. Finally, weeks seven and eight cover scientific writing and journal choice. You finish with a protocol ready for ethics submission.

First, every study has a written protocol and ethical approval before data collection. Second, we report results to the partner as well as to a journal. Third, testimonials appear only with the person’s consent. As a result, partners can rely on what SHINE publishes, and readers can check every claim against its source.
