Continuing medical education is the subject of a new study by Sintieh Research Academy. Doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and other health professionals in Cameroon are invited to take part in the AP-CME study: Attitudes and Practices of Healthcare Professionals in Cameroon towards Continuing Medical Education and Professional Capacity Building.
Why study continuing medical education
Continuing medical education (CME) is how health professionals keep their skills current after qualifying. However, there is little published evidence on how professionals in Cameroon view CME, what they do, what stops them and what would help. The AP-CME study collects that evidence. As a result, CME programmes, including our own, can be designed around real needs.

Taking part in the continuing medical education study
- An online questionnaire of 10 to 15 minutes.
- Questions about your background, your experience of CME, the barriers you face and the formats you would find useful.
- No identifying information is published. We analyse responses in aggregate and store them on access-controlled systems.
How the continuing medical education findings will be used
We will publish the findings in a peer-reviewed journal. In addition, we will return them to Cameroon’s health professionals as a summary report. They will inform SRA’s courses and mentorship, and we will share them with the Ministry of Public Health. Questions go to info@shineltd.org. Finally, see our Sintieh Research Academy page for current courses.
How to reach us
You can write to info@shineltd.org at any time. Alternatively, call +237 680 338 598 during office hours, Monday to Friday. We reply within two working days. In addition, partnership and funding enquiries go to partner@shineltd.org, so that the right person answers. Questions about continuing medical education are welcome.

For example, the publications library lists peer-reviewed work by year and topic. Similarly, the programmes page describes current field programmes and courses. Finally, news and insight carries announcements and programme notes from SHINE and its divisions.
A note on our standards
First, every study has a written protocol and ethical approval before data collection. Second, we report results to the partner as well as to a journal. Third, testimonials appear only with the person’s consent. As a result, partners can rely on what SHINE publishes, and readers can check every claim against its source.
